Karis started playing the Guitar in 1991, at Thika High school in Kenya. Two years later, he was playing for his Church in Ndenderu and continued taking lessons in school and from different musicians. He grew up listening to African music but always appreciated all kinds of Music

In 1998, he joined the Cerritos College Jazz Ensemble and continued leading worship at Global Christian Center in Newport Beach.

Karis, has worked with various Musicians like Fred Doumbe from Cameroon, Angel Moreno, Milele, KpaKpo Ado from Ghana, Nathaniel Nyema(Liberia), Esther and Camile Ntoto, Runo Mvumbi(Congolese Gospel artist based in Switzerland), David Mporampora(Ugandan Gospel artist based in Denver Colorado) Juan Boza, Felix Mwangi(FJproductions) Giovanni, Alex Jansik, Zion Music's Juan Castillo Jativa, Badaue's(Toby Harwell)...just to name a few. Karis has also Written some music with different artists like Anne Mathenge (tafsiri productions), Juan Carlos and together with Kanjii Mbugua from Milele wrote "the Last Mile" a soundtrack for the Tafsiri Productions Movie, "The Last Mile"

He has played guitar on eight different Albums for various Spanish churches, for Milele, a Kenyan Christian group based in Southern California, and for Felix Mwangi , a Boston based Kenyan producer.

Karis has also been featured on "Touching Lives", a talk show with Kathy Bee's PR Productions, aired in February and April 2003.

Working at SamAsh Music Corporation for two and a half years, he has gained a lot of experience with the latest recording equipment and live sound.
